To an urban person, the most well known bird is a pigeon and their most hellish act is having one drop a bit of welcome on your head or business suit. Well... I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a pigeon lover going way back. Unless traumatized by man, pigeons are friendly and will even eat out of your hand. So, filled for my love of the descendents of the Raptor dinosaurs, I was overjoyed to find a new display of North American birds at my favorite haunt, the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. Yes, they're stuffed and some have become extinct, but these critters were killed for display over eighty years ago. Times and attitudes change, but the nobility and beauty of these beings is a tribute to life. Clicking on thumbnail photo will bring up a larger photo for your viewing.
