Okay, I fooled you a bit.  These are photos of what might be called NYC Subway "High."  You're looking at pics taken on the Smith Street 9th Street station in Brooklyn.  It's the most elevated station in the New York City Subway system.  Smith9 rides high above the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, rumored to be the dumping place for many mob hits.  It's a fascinating stop that's been used in backdrops for several movies and provides an almost surrealistic view of Manhattan.  Trains temporarily leave their subterranean paths and descend back into the depths of darkness.

I photographed in Black and White to capture a particular quality.  Besides, we all know that the world was black and white until the development of Technicolor.

However, Brooklyn NY does change to color when it snows, as witnessed by the last five shots taken after the rare, 2 foot snow of 16 Feb 06.
